A group of business owners will gather on Saturday in Richmond to share their experiences and exchange ideas on how to do business in a challenging economy.

Canbes Forum 2024, held by the Canadian Community Service Association, will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. at River Rock Show Theatre on River Road and is free for the public.

“As we approach the Chinese New Year, people get together to celebrate the festival. We thought we could take the opportunity to bring business owners together as well,” said David Tan, a Richmond-based business owner and one of the organizers of the event.

“With high interest rates and a slowing economy, many local small and medium businesses are facing challenges. By sharing experiences, business owners may find solutions from others who have experienced similar situations and exchange resources.”

There will be five panel discussions at the forum.

Each will have three to five panellists and focus on a sector such as finance and real estate, education and culture, technology and resources, food and health and premium lifestyles.

The forum will be held in Mandarin with simultaneous AI English translation on screen.

More than 80 business owners from B.C. are expected to attend the event, Tan said.
