Anyone still planning to make contributions to a registered retirement savings plan (RRSP) for the 2013 tax year had better hurry.
The deadline for making a contribution to an RRSP is Monday, March 3. For those who turned 71 in 2013, the deadline for contributing to their own RRSP was December 31, 2013.
A January 7 study released by Scotiabank found that British Columbians are the least likely Canadians to contribute to an RRSP. Scotiabank’s survey found that 20% of those in B.C. planned on contributing in 2013 – well below the national average of 31%.
A December 13 survey released by BMO found that many Canadians are in the dark about income tax deadlines, which can mean less money in their bank accounts.
For example, this survey found that 75% of respondents were not aware of the December 31 deadline for those turning 71.
