TD Canada Trust is aiming to expand its retail foreign exchange business in Vancouver.

On November 19, it opened its first dedicated foreign exchange centre in Western Canada, the second such store in Canada.

Customers will be able to exchange over 50 different currencies as well as buy gold and silver coins, bars and certificates inside its TD Tower branch in downtown Vancouver, located at West Georgia and Howe streets.

Martine Irman, senior vice-president and TD Bank Group said, “What’s great about this location is that travelers like me can find the currency I need, on demand, before my next flight.”

The new store follows a similar format that launched in downtown Toronto last summer and aims to increase its market share in the competitive foreign exchange market in Vancouver. In the downtown core alone there were roughly two dozen locations where travelers could exchange currencies.
