Vision Vancouver spent $2,218,040 of the $2,227,402 that it raised to run its victorious 2011 civic election campaign, the party announced March 15.
Every Vision Vancouver candidate won the election, giving the civic party headed by Mayor Gregor Robertson seven city council, five school board and four park board seats.
Fundraising between January 1, 2011, and January 31, 2012, came from 2530 individuals and 259 organizations.
The largest corporate or institutional donors were:
- CUPE BC ($155,300);
- Lisi Mechanical Contractors ($91,000);
- Wall Financial ($80,000).
The largest individual donors were:
- developer Peter Redekop ($50,000);
- Renewal Partners principal Carol Newell ($31,260); and
- Keg Restaurants Ltd. owner David Aisenstat ($25,000).
Aisenstat’s restaurant chain was Vision Vancouver’s fourth largest donor, providing $75,000.
Parties are only expected to disclose fund raising from the beginning of September. Vision Vancouver co-chairman Stephan Vdovine told Business in Vancouver, “We’ve gone above and beyond what is required.”
Vdovine added that Vision Vancouver supports campaign finance reform to set spending limits and ban corporate and union donations.
The deadline to file campaign finance reports is March 19 and the NPA has not yet filed its data.
