A new event to showcase Canadian television will start this year in Toronto.
The Canadian International Television Festival will take place November 16 at film venue TIFF Lightbox. The event will showcase Canadian English and French-language television for the public, advertisers, journalists and industry insiders.
“The festival model has been a great marketing tool for other cultural products in Canada, and this festival will enable Canadians to appreciate our home-grown productions in a whole new setting,” said Canada Media Fund president and CEO Valerie Creighton.
Bell Media, the Canada Media Fund and the Canadian Media Production Association are supporters of the festival. Organizers hope it will become an annual event.
