Like mythic valkyries overlooking fallen Norse warriors, Tokyo-based Valhalla Game Studios is guiding its team to a new permanent home in Vancouver.

The Japanese video game developer behind Devil's Third announced March 17 it’s moving its global headquarters to B.C.

“Our group has excellent staff who are able to compete in at the top level in the world. We believe this is one of our big advantages. To maximize this advantage, we have transferred our headquarters to Canada,” Tomonobu Itagaki, Valhalla’s president and chief technology officer, wrote on his studio’s website.

“It is better to set a development base in Western countries than Japan in order to gather talented creators scattered from all over the world and I have made a judgment that Vancouver is the most appropriate place for this.”

CEO Satoshi Kanematsu said on the company's website its development team includes Americans, Indians, Swedes, Russians and French citizens.

Valhalla was established in 2008 and has other subsidiaries based in Japan and South Korea.

While Devil's Third was released on the Nintendo Wii-U in 2015, the PC version is scheduled for release in the spring of 2016.
