Coquitlam's Festival du Bois (pictured here in 2019) is returning to in-person celebrations for its 33rd annual event in April 2022 | Festival du Bois

It may still look a little bit different compared to previous years, but a popular music festival is coming back to Coquitlam with live performances in 2022.

Festival du Bois will be back in Mackin Park next month and is set to celebrate culture, food, family and music from French Canada.

Also known as Maillardville's music festival, the return to in-person shows comes after a "highly successful" virtual event in 2021 — which last for two weeks when interested residents were able to watch some of Canada's finest musicians for free.

"We can’t wait to see everyone again in Mackin Park," said Joanne Dumas, Festival du Bois executive and artistic director.

"This year’s festival offers folks the chance to gather together safely, experience an eclectic range of great music, and celebrate — in person."

And while visitors to the 33rd edition of Festival du Bois will be revelling in the different sights, sounds and smells, there will be COVID-19 health protocols in place to ensure everyone stays safe.

According to the three-day festival's website, proof of vaccination against the virus will be required for interested patrons aged 12 years and older to enter the Mackin Park site, as well for use of the shuttle to and from IKEA.

Face masks must also be worn by everyone in attendance aged five and up when visiting the workshop, food and music tents and if you choose to hit the dance floor in front of the stage.

"Keeping our audiences safe is our highest priority," adds Dumas, who says audiences should expect a very "enthusiastic" slate of concerts in the big tent — known as the Grand Chapiteau.

Festival du Bois is scheduled for April 1 to 3 and will take place rain or shine.

Musicians on the marquee this year are as follows:

  • Le Diable à Cinq
  • The McDades
  • Le Winston Band
  • Alpha Yaya Diallo
  • Collage Trad
  • Métis Jiggers
  • Jocelyn Pettit
  • Locarno
  • The Sybaritic String Band
  • North Shore Celtic Ensemble
  • Youth Zone Performers
    • Will's Jams
    • Ginalina
    • Les Petits Matins
    • Yoro Noukoussi
