The City of Burnaby has awarded the Burnaby Board of Trade (BBOT) its annual environmental star award for building and implementing a comprehensive online environmental resource.

The BBOT’s online Pledge for a Sustainable Community program provides businesses with information on how to establish various environmental initiatives such as waste- or water-reduction campaigns.

It also gives companies the opportunity to share their experiences and successes in an online forum.

“It’s a great honour to receive this recognition, and all of us at the BBOT are extremely proud to be in the company of the incredible individuals and organizations who have also been recognized this year and in past years,” said BBOT president and CEO Paul Holden.

“The pledge is still very much in its infancy, but the early success we’ve enjoyed in engaging with local businesses has been truly remarkable. I can’t wait to see this program grow over the coming years.”

Each year, Burnaby awards both individuals and organizations that implement environmentally focused initiatives.
