Vancouver’s Lignol Energy Corporation (TSX-V:LEC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea-based M Energy Co. that will see the two companies work together on a biodiesel plant project.
The project involves restarting one of Lignol’s biodiesel plants in Darwin, Australia. The companies have been working together for several months on a feasibility study to investigate how to integrate a pre-treatment technology developed by M into the 140 million-litre-per-year plant.
The companies hope that M’s pre-treatment process will allow the plant to produce low-cost, sustainable free fatty acid waste feedstocks from a range of waste materials.
M currently has three biodiesel plants in Korea and has a production capacity of 135 million litres per year.
