Forty under 40 alumni Stephen Geddes and Andrew Strang, along with the Aquilini Investment Group, are planning to launch FlyOver Canada in late spring

A new tourist attraction hitting Vancouver’s waterfront will be powered entirely by green electricity, according to its operator.

Flyover Canada and green electricity provider Bullfrog Power will partner on the initiative, in which Bullfrog will feed electricity from wind turbines into B.C.’s power grid, matching the amount of electricity the attraction uses.

Flyover Canada’s “4D” movie attraction features a spherical movie screen, seats that move and effects such as mist, wind and smells to give participants the sensation of flying over scenic areas of Canada. It will be located at Canada Place.

“Bullfrog Power is a key part of our strategy to minimize the environmental impact of FlyOver Canada,” said Stephen Geddes, president of Soaring Attractions, the entity that owns FlyOver Canada.

“Our attraction is all about showing off this beautiful country and we want to do our part to preserve that beauty for future generations.”

Soaring Attractions is a partnership involving Stephen Geddes, Andrew Strang and Aquilini Investment Group. The group has spent $16 million to get the attraction up and running.

Geddes and Strang previously founded a company that provided GST rebates to tourists. In 2000, they were both Business in Vancouver Forty under 40 winners.

Flyover Canada, which was slated to open in late spring, has yet to open to the public.
