Glowbal Group plans to open its newest restaurant and Vancouver's largest rooftop patio restaurant on April 25, owner Emad Yacoub told Business in Vancouver April 16.
The 3,000-square-foot venue with 120 seats will be dubbed The Roof and will be on third floor of Glowbal's Alberni steakhouse Black+Blue.
The Roof will be a separate restaurant with its own kitchen and washrooms. A private glass-walled elevator will transport guests to the rooftop restaurant.
Yacoub first told BIV about his plans for the restaurant in March 2012 and he originally planned to open the bistro last year.
"The city put me through lots of love," he joked when asked why the launch was delayed a year.
Yacoub said he spent $1.7 million on renovations for The Roof.
"We have two huge fire walls. One is 50 feet long and the other is 30 feet long," he said.
There will also be heat lamps.
The Roof's cuisine is "al fresco style – a fancy back-yard barbecue," Yacoub said.
