The Wickaninnish Inn, located in Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island, has been named the best resort in Canada in 2015 by Travel + Leisure magazine.

This is the second year in a row the inn has taken top spot the “Best Resort” ranking, which is based on Travel + Leisure reader experiences.

“We’ll be celebrating our 20ths anniversary in 2016, and this latest recognition will make the milestone even more special for us,” said the Wickaninnish Inn’s managing director Charles McDiarmid.

This is not the inn’s first time on a Travel + Leisure list. In addition to being named top resort last year, it had come in second place in 2013, behind the Post Hotel and Spa in Lake Louise. The Post hotel slipped to fifth place this year.

Two other British Columbia hotels rounded out the top three resorts list this year. The Four Seasons Resort and Residences came in second place and the Fairmont Chateau Whistler was number three.

The Fairmont Banff Springs took fourth place in the top resorts category.

Four B.C. hotels made the top 10 list of “Top Hotels in Canada.” These were the Fairmont Waterfront (3rd place), the Fairmont Pacific Rim (4th place), the Wedgewood Hotel and Spa (5th place) and the Fairmont Empress in Victoria (9th place).
