employee, Randstad Canada, Canadians among most satisfied employees globally: survey

Canadian employees' job satisfaction levels are among the highest according to a new Randstad Workmonitor study of 32 countries.

Nearly one in three Canadians (31%) report being "very satisfied" with their current employer – the highest of all 14 non-European countries surveyed.

Only Demark (35%), Luxembourg (33%), Norway (33%) and Switzerland (32%) reported higher levels of workers reporting that they're "very satisfied" with their current work situation.

"There are a number of reasons why Canadians have more on the job satisfaction than other markets," said Jan Hein Bax, president of Randstad Canada.

"With our strong marketplace, employees often find they have more job security and flexibility than other countries and better work environments."

The survey also found that a "pleasant work environment" is Canadians' top priority when seeking an employer.

It also found that the importance of job security is rising, with 53% of respondents ranking it as one of the most important factors to consider when choosing an employer.

In January, a Randstad Workmonitor report found that more Canadians were looking for new jobs than in the previous quarter. (See "Canadian workers increasingly restless: Randstad" – BIV Business Today, January 24.)
