The immigration task force that the B.C. government struck in December to work out how to attract skilled immigrants and foreign investors to the province is set to release its report later today.
The report is expected to include recommendations about how to improve:
- the provincial nominee program;
- the federal skilled worker program;
- the Canadian experience class program; and
- the federal immigrant investor program.
Led by Minister of State for Multiculturalism John Yap, the nine-member group consists of community and business leaders.
Premier Christy Clark told media when she announced the program that she expects the province to generate more than one million new job openings during the next decade.
"The goal of the task force is to assess the current system and find ways to attract more skilled workers every year," she said in December.
Yap plans to release the report at 1:30 p.m. at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Vancouver.
