Shirley Chen has joined Mogo Finance Technology Inc. in the newly created role of treasurer, and will be based in Mogo’s Toronto office. Chen has more than 15 years of financial management experience.
Mark Frey has been appointed COO at Cambridge Global Payments, a provider of integrated cross-border payments services and risk management solutions. Frey was previously the company’s managing director of Canada and U.S. West.
Hospitality/Tourism/Convention
Sandhya Suryam has been appointed director of marketing at Tourism Richmond. Suryam’s experience includes senior marketing positions with Atimi Software, DARE and Fjord Digital and Interactive agencies and the Canadian Tourism Commission (Destination Canada). Deidre DeVico was promoted to director of sales. DeVico has worked in the tourism and hospitality industry for more than 22 years, including positions with Travelsavers Canada, the Crowne Plaza Hotel Georgia and International Conference Services. Colin Wong recently joined as director of communications. Wong has more than 20 years of experience, including leadership positions with Laura Ballance Media Group, the Architectural Institute of BC and the Truck Loggers Association. John Merer was recently promoted to director of finance. Previously, Merer held positions at WesternOne Inc., Omni Warranty and TR Trades Reproduction.
Bruno Feldeisen has been appointed executive chef at Semiahmoo Resort, Golf and Spa. Feldeisen has won numerous awards over his more than 30-year career and has been a competing chef on Chopped Canada, Sweet Genius and Donut Showdown on the Food Network.

Kim Bowie and Michelle Yong have joined Yulu PR as a senior account manager and visual storyteller, respectively. Bowie has nearly a decade of public relations experience. Yong has freelanced for a number of companies and non-profits, including working as a user experience designer.
David Brodie has been appointed SVP and general manager, Western Canada, at Citizen Relations. Prior to joining Citizen Relations, Brodie worked as a senior policy adviser in the Office of the Prime Minister, Right Hon. Paul Martin.

Peter Callaghan has been appointed chief sales officer for both BSM Wireless and Webtech Wireless. Callaghan previously held the role of SVP, sales and marketing, at Webtech Wireless prior to the merger of the two companies on October 1. Webtech Wireless is now a wholly owned subsidiary of BSM Technologies Inc.

Hats Off
Business in Vancouver welcomes submissions from local small businesses and large corporations alike that demonstrate examples of corporate philanthropy and community involvement in the Vancouver area. High-resolution images are also welcome.
The Wolrige Foundation and the Illahie Foundation donated $6,000 and $5,000, respectively, to Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland. Both donations will provide organizational support for Big Sisters.
Phoenix Truck & Crane and BCD Holdings Ltd. donated $24,805 to Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation. The donation will be used to purchase a diagnostic scope that will further women’s health.
PH Restaurants LP – Pizza Hut – donated $47,000 to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Funds were raised via donations from Pizza Hut customers, managers and team members who participated in local fundraising events for the 2015 JDRF Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes.
Kalea O’Hern received a full scholarship, valued at approximately $15,000, to attend Sprott Shaw College. The scholarship contest was held via Vancouver radio station Z95.3.
Hills Foods donated $5,000 to the Culinary Arts Foundation of BC. The funds will assist Culinary Olympics Team Canada at the the Internationale Kochkunst Ausstellung Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany, in 2016. •
