The Vancouver Foundation is getting a new president and CEO.
Kevin McCort, a two-decade veteran of the not-for-profit sector, will take over the top job in September, replacing retiring president Faye Wightman.
Before accepting the position with the Vancouver Foundation, McCort was the CEO of Care Canada in Ottawa, a national humanitarian aid organization.
“The breadth of Kevin McCort’s professional experience in the not-for-profit sector, his passion for social issues and his commitment to collaborative partnerships align perfectly with Vancouver Foundation’s needs and values,” said Gord MacDougall, board chair of the Vancouver Foundation.
“Kevin brings the right mix of skills and experience to guide the vital work we do at the foundation.”
McCort received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in February 2013 for his work promoting social justice.
The Vancouver Foundation, with assets totalling $814 million, is Canada’s largest community foundation. In 2012, the Vancouver Foundation and its donors gave $46 million to Canadian charities.
Since its inception in 1943, the Vancouver Foundation and its donors have given more than $917 million to various programs.
