Ray Harris officially took over from Sandra Wyant as president of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) at the organization’s March 20 annual general meeting, the REBGV announced March 25.
Harris has been in the real estate business for nearly 30 years.
He has chaired committees such as the REBGV’s governance committee. He also served as chair of an area of the REBGV that includes Burnaby, New Westminster and the Tri-Cities.
A recipient of the MLS lifetime membership achievement award, Harris volunteers and has spent time as an area governor for Toastmasters International.
He has been on the REBGV’s board of directors for the past six years.
“The key thing is that we’re going to provide service to the realtors to make them more productive within the community so they can provide better service to the public,” Harris told Business in Vancouver March 25.
The REBGV, which is the second largest real estate board in Canada, is likely best known for putting out monthly statistics to reveal trends in sales, prices and the price-to-listings ratio.
But the REBGV also has a various committees such as a professional conduct committee, which promotes and nurtures ethical conduct, Harris said.
Supporting Harris will be President-elect Darcy McLeod and vice-president Dan Morrison. The plan is then for McLeod to become president in March 2015 and for Morrison to be president in March 2016.
