Vancouver’s new housing price index slipped 0.2% to 98.2 in February, according to Statistics Canada data released Thursday.
Over the same month, Canada’s new national housing price index climbed 0.3%, with the metropolitan region of Toronto and Oshawa driving the increase. Vancouver’s slide somewhat offset the Ontario gains.
Vancouver’s February index fell 0.3% from a year ago. In the same period, Canada climbed 2.3% on the index.
The largest year-over-year price increases were recorded in Regina (5.9%), Toronto and Oshawa (5.8%) and Winnipeg (3.8%).
Of the 21 metropolitan regions surveyed, three posted 12-month declines in February with Victoria (-2.4%) posting the largest decrease.
