The BC Aboriginal Mine Training Association (BC AMTA) won't close its doors, after securing the federal funding it was seeking.

Last month, the BC AMTA announced that it had failed to secure the funding it needed and was on the brink of shutting down operations.

However the association has now posted a notice on its website, declaring that it's "back in business" after reaching an agreement with the federal government for funding through the Skills Partnership Fund.

According to the statement, posted by BC AMTA executive direction Laurie Sterritt, the funding will permit the organization to deliver another three-year training and employment program.

"It's going to take some time to sort out all the details and we'll have more information to share over the coming weeks," Sterritt said in the statement. "But the important news… is our Kamloops office is open once again and ready for your calls and e-mails."

Sterritt declined to comment further prior to the official federal government funding announcement.
