Starting a small business in Delta, New Westminster and Port Moody just got a little easier, thanks to the addition of those communities to online regulatory clearing centre BizPaL (www.bcbizpal.ca).

The three Lower Mainland communities were among 10 in B.C. that have been added to BizPal, a free national online service created through partnerships with federal, provincial and municipal governments.

BizPaL is designed to make it easier for small businesses to acquire all the permits they need to set up shop, as the number of permits and approvals required can be daunting, especially if entrepreneurs aren't sure which government department to apply to.

Small Business BC is advocating the use of the site for setting up a business in the province. "At Small Business BC, we provide a range of products, services and education that help entrepreneurs increase their opportunity to become successful," said CEO George Hunter. "By providing easy access to government permits and licences through one source, BizPaL has proven to be a highly effective resource for business owners."

Pat Bell, minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation, said, "BizPaL is the result of three levels of government working together to help make life easier for B.C.'s small businesses. Innovation and job creation trump time spent navigating through red tape. BizPaL allows entrepreneurs to focus on what's important – growing their businesses."

Other B.C. communities joining BizPaL are Central Saanich, Mackenzie, Sechelt, Langford, Nelson, Valemount and Smithers.
