Burnaby-based Mustang Survival has been acquired by a Safariland, a Florida company specializing in police and military equipment.
Current president Jim Harrt will continue to lead Mustang Survival, which was started in 1967. The company designs and manufactures lifesaving equipment such as life jackets, survival suits and rescue kits. It makes equipment for recreational users, the military and professional rescuers.
“Joining forces with The Safariland Group represents an important step in the global expansion of the Mustang Survival brand,” said Harrt. “We expect to leverage their resources to further drive our innovation in new product development.”
Safariland, which was acquired by an affiliate of Kanders and Company in July 2012, plans to acquire more companies. Mustang Survival is Safariland’s first acquisition in the marine and aviation industries.
