Ice-cream distributor TransCold buys Coast Mountain Dairy

John Coughlan, owner of Delta-based ice-cream distributor TransCold Distribution, has bought Chilliwack’s Coast Mountain Dairy for an undisclosed amount.

Coughlan also separately owns Vancouver ice-cream manufacturer Sara’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream.

The transaction gives TransCold a new client because it will now be distributing Coast Mountain Dairy’s products. Other TransCold clients include Magnum, Popsicle, Klondike, Ben & Jerry’s, Breyers and Chapman’s.

“Together we will further strengthen our positions in ice cream and frozen distribution,” Coughlan said. “Coast Mountain Dairy brings a strong portfolio of locally produced iconic brands and a wide range of ice-cream products, which will be a perfect fit.”

Coast Mountain Dairy employs approximately 30 employees. TransCold employs about 150 staff.
