All ground-floor retail space at Bentall Kennedy’s 745 Thurlow Street office tower has been claimed thanks to Italian luxury brands Brunello Cucinelli and Versace signing leases to take space.
High-end Swiss retailer Strellson already confirmed to Business in Vancouver that it would locate in the tower on the southwest corner of the intersection of Thurlow and Alberni streets.
All of those stores are expected to open in early 2016 at the latest.
“Our second floor space is still available,” Bentall LP senior vice-president Wayne Popowich told BIV June 15.
“There’s a potential that it could go to an office user and there’s a potential that it could go to a retailer.”
One potential retail tenant that has looked at the second-floor space is Chapters Indigo , which closed its 52,0000-square-foot store at the corner of Robson and Howe streets last month.
Brunello Cucinelli will open a 2,700-square-foot boutique that faces Thurlow Street and is directly south of Versace’s 1,875-square-foot store, closer to the corner.
Strellson will locate its 2,200-square-foot store in a unit that faces Alberni Street.
“We’re very excited about those two new retailers announcing that they are coming,” Popowich said. “The deals were done a while ago but the tenants didn’t want us to say anything.”
The Versace store will be the first stand-alone Versace fashion boutique in Vancouver. The brand already operates a Versace Home store at 310 West Cordova Street, which opened last year. That store is the world’s first Versace Home store to carry a full line of home products – from tiles and faucets to comforters, dining room tables and wallpaper.
