OpenRoad Communications, a Vancouver-based website developer, has bolstered its design expertise with the acquisition of a smaller Vancouver company, Mod7.
Wil Arndt, former principal of Mod7, will stay on as creative director for the newly merged companies, and Mod7 employees have moved to OpenRoad's Gastown office.
The acquisition of the five-person digital media site brings OpenRoad’s headcount to 41.
“We're very excited to welcome Mod7 to our company,” said OpenRoad founding partner Darren Gibbons.
“We've had a successful business relationship with Mod7 for many years, partnering on projects for Pokémon, TReO, and The World Bank. Adding these capabilities will give us even more opportunities to collaborate and innovate, ultimately providing the best end-to-end experience for our clients.”
OpenRoad plans to use Mod7’s expertise in design to “enrich” ThoughtFarmer, OpenRoad’s popular enterprise platform for social intranet.
