Ryan Donovan, left, and Amanda Malko have joined Vancouver-based Thinkific's C-Suite.

Thinkific Labs Inc. (TSX:THNC) is filling out its C-Suite with some hires from fellow Vancouver tech firm Hootsuite Inc. as well as U.S.-based Mailchimp.

The West Coast online-course creator has tapped Ryan Donovan to serve as its chief product and technology officer. He previously served as the former chief technology officer for social media management platform Hootsuite.

Meantime, Amanda Malko has been hired as Thinkific’s chief revenue officer after previously serving as chief marketing officer for peer-to-peer review site G2 and as a marketing leader for email marketing platform Mailchimp.

Both execs are based in the U.S., according to their LinkedIn profiles.

The rest of the C-Suite, CEO Greg Smith and chief financial officer Corinne Hua, is based in Vancouver.

The top ranks had a bit of a different look not too long ago when board member Steve Krenzer stepped in to serve as president on a temporary basis back in 2022. This came shortly after it shed 20 per cent of its 500-person workforce and its share prices hovered around the $2 mark after debuting at $15 in 2021.

Thinkific posted its first net profit in the last quarter of 2023 since going public.

The company posted net losses of $26.4 million in 2021, $36.4 million in 2022 and $9 million in 2023, according to annual audited financial statements. But in the last quarter of 2023, the company netted a profit of $301,000 compared to a $3.7-million loss in the final quarter of 2022.

“There was a downturn in the overall tech market for sure that hit everyone in ‘21, but just looking over the last 24 months, we’ve been nothing but up,” CEO Smith told BIV last month.
