American Airlines (AA) is launching a new twice-daily flight between Vancouver and Los Angeles starting October 2 with bookings available starting June 21.
The Texas-based airline’s only existing flight from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is to its hub, the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport (DFW). Otherwise, it is involved in various code-share flights.
AA’s flights between YVR and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will be on a two-class Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft and be operated as US Airways Express.
The move comes in tandem with AA launching three other routes from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), to Tampa, Florida, San Antonio, Texas and Edmonton, Alberta.
“Providing service from Los Angeles to these destinations strengthens our LAX hub which plays a vital role in our domestic and international network strategy,” said Chuck Schubert, who is vice-president of network and schedule planning. “As we continue work to integrate our two great global networks, we are committed to growing our presence in our hubs to offer customers the most convenient access to the most important global business and leisure destinations.”
