We’ve all seen Car2Go’s signature blue and white Smart ForTwo vehicles around the city, and starting today (September 28), the company now offers a four-door alternative.
The carshare company has added 25 four-door Mercedes B-Class vehicles to its Vancouver fleet in a new pilot program that will see the bigger, more luxurious cars being rented at 41 cents per minute – the same price as the Smart Cars.
“One thing we’ve heard consistently from members since our launch in 2011 is that sometimes they need a little more space,” said Car2Go Vancouver general manager Chris Iuvancigh. “Whether they are taking day or weekend trips with their families, heading out on a ski trip with friends or moving to a new residence, we want to continue to provide new options that make transportation easy and convenient.
“The Mercedes Benz B-Class vehicles will help our members get from Point A to Point B with room for their friends while giving them a chance to get behind the wheel of another one of Daimler’s world class vehicles.”
The new four-door Car2Go vehicles will still be adorned with the signature blue and white logo. They will feature updated technology that gives users the chance to locate a car and begin and end a trip through a smartphone app.
Car2Go has over 91,000 members in Vancouver alone and more than a million members in 30 countries around the world. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler North America Corporation.
