Craig Richmond, a former fighter pilot who was born in Vancouver, is set to take over the controls as CEO of Vancouver International Airport.

Richmond was appointed after an executive search following the departure of former YVR CEO Larry Berg.

“Like YVR itself, our new president and CEO is a homegrown success story,” said Mary Jordan, chairperson of the Airport Authority’s board of directors.

“A unique mix of work experience, skills, education and values amassed over a lifetime in aviation – including a decade’s worth of experience as a Canadian military fighter pilot – make Craig a great fit for a great job.”

Richmond served as a fighter pilot in the Canadian Armed Forces, and served as vice-president of operations for YVR before joining Vantage Airport Group, which operates airports around the world. He has served as CEO for a number of Vantage-operated airports in three countries.

“To be back in Vancouver at what I believe is the best airport in the world is a dream come true,” Richmond said.
