In a move that further consolidates B.C.'s seaplane industry, Harbour Air Ltd. has acquired Whistler Air.
Harbour Air previously acquired West Coast Air in 2010, and continues to operate both the Harbour Air and West Coast Air brands.
This latest acquisition will add Whistler Air's single DeHavilland Otter plane, which seats 12 passengers, to Harbour Air's fleet of more than 50 aircraft.
Harbour Air has stated that the acquisition will involve no interruption of Whistler Air's services.
"Whistler is one of British Columbia's great destinations," said Meredith Moll, Harbour Air's vice-president of sales and marketing. "With the acquisition of Whistler Air, our airline will be able to offer an unrivalled service to this great Canadian resort destination."
Harbour Air is the world's largest seaplane airline, according to the company.
Harbour Air is a key figure in a protracted dispute surrounding new floatplane terminal Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre (VHFC) in Coal Harbour.
VHFC recently filed a lawsuit against Harbour Air and BC Pavilion Corp. (PavCo), claiming that PavCo has breached its lease with VHFC by allowing Harbour Air to continue to operate out of its neighbouring terminal.
