Icelandair will begin flying from Vancouver International Airport to more than 20 European destinations, the airline announced September 3.

Starting May 13, 2014, there will be two flights per week, with direct service between YVR and Keflavik International Airport, Iceland’s biggest airport.

“Our Seattle service, which serves those primarily south of the border, has been a success for us and we hope our Vancouver service will be just as popular,” said Icelandair CEO Birkir Holm Gudnason.

“Besides adding Iceland as a nonstop destination from Vancouver, our service will make it much easier to travel to Scandinavia.”

The airline is also planning to add three Boeing 757 aircraft to their fleet, bring the total number of planes to 21.
