Photos: Here's what Vancouver's Broadway Subway project looks like at the end of 2024

The underground stations are beginning to come together.

While earlier this year it was announced the completion of the Broadway Subway megaproject was delayed until the fall of 2027, construction progress is being made.

Photos recently uploaded by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure show some sections of track are being prepared for rails, while the tunnel has a concrete base put in place. The original tunnels were circular and needed to have a perfectly flat base installed.

The tunnelling machines are out of the ground, and work continues both inside the tunnels and at each of the six new underground stations, along with associated areas along Broadway and nearby areas.

In an email to V.I.A., the ministry says completion of the Broadway Subway megaproject is still scheduled to be in the fall of 2027.

When the project broke ground in 2021, it was expected to be done by 2025 at a cost of $2.83 billion, but delays pushed that date back.

In the last posted status report, in July 2024, the Broadway Subway was still listed as being a $2.83 billion project and "forecast to be delivered within budget" despite the delays.
