After more than eight months without a CEO, the Prince Rupert Port Authority has tapped Shaun Stevenson to lead the organization.
Stevenson, who currently serves as the authority's vice-president of trade development and public affairs, replaces long-time president and CEO Don Krusel, who announced his retirement last September.
Stevenson has more than two decades of experience with the port.
“The Port of Prince Rupert’s importance to the country’s trade agenda and economic future has never been more relevant. We have the opportunity to be truly progressive and innovative in our Port development plans, and we can’t wait to keep doing our part to build a better Canada," commented Stevenson in a news release.
The Prince Rupert Port Authority is Canada's northernmost trade gateway. Stevenson's appointment was announced during the authority's annual general meeting.
The next phase of the port's container terminal expansion was also unveiled. By 2022, the DP World Prince Rupert Fairview Container Terminal will be able to accommodate 1.8 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units).
