Air Canada has been launching a steady stream of new routes out of Vancouver International Airport

Air Canada today announced two new routes out of Vancouver International Airport (YVR) that will launch in June 2017: Nagoya, Japan and Taipei, Taiwan.

The thrice-weekly flights to Nagoya will be the only non-stop flights between that coastal city in central Honshu and Vancouver. The expectation is that Air Canada will increase frequency on the route to four times per week during August and September.

Air Canada will join Eva Air and China Airlines by offering daily non-stop flights on the Taipei route, assuming that it is able to get government approval, which is required for that route.

The two new Air Canada routes out of YVR are in addition to four other new routes that Canada’s national airline announced September 28.

The others are:

•Toronto to Mumbai, India;

•Toronto to Berlin, Germany;

•Montreal to Marseilles, France; and

•Montreal to Algiers, Algeria.

Air Canada has been ramping up the number of routes that it operates out of YVR in the past year with the biggest announcement being the first non-stop flight between YVR and the Indian subcontinent. Those flights to Delhi launch October 20.

The airline launched the only non-stop flights between YVR and Brisbane, Australia on June 1.

Those are just a couple of a flurry of new routes.

The news comes on the heels of YVR having its busiest-ever month in August and its second-busiest-ever month in July.

The airport is on track to welcome a record of more than 21 million passengers in 2016.
