Westshore Terminals' Berth 1 is back up and operating, after a ship collision in December damaged the facility's trestle, the company has announced.
In an update Friday from Westshore Terminals Investment Corp. (TSX:WTE), the company stated that "sufficient repairs" to the trestle have been completed to resume normal operations.
"Further work to rebuilt a permanent road way on the trestle should be completed on or before the end of April," the company said.
Westshore added that there have been "no environmental issues arising from any of the cleanup or repair efforts."
The company estimated that repairs and business losses due to halted operations at Berth 1 have cost it $50 million. It stated that "active efforts" are underway to recover those costs from the ship owner and its insurance carriers, but cautioned that "the ultimate amount to be recovered and the time to do so are not known at this time."
In December, Westshore filed suit against ship owners of the vessel involved in the collision.
The company added that it's also working with its own insurance carriers to recover its losses. Westshore stated that the estimated loss amount is not final and is subject to change.
