Vancouver International Airport was named Best Airport in North America for the fourth year in a row by the Skytrax World Airport Awards http://www.worldairportawards.com in Switzerland Wednesday.
YVR ranked eighth best airport in the world, beating out Tokyo's International airport and London's Heathrow in the top-10 list. It was the only North American airport to make the top 10. Singapore Changi Airport was named the top airport in the world.
The annual awards are based on passenger surveys. It ranks airports based on passenger experiences, efficiency, signage, transportation availability, amenities and friendliness. "We are honoured to receive the Skytrax Best Airport in North America award for the fourth consecutive year and thank everyone for their continued vote of confidence," said Larry Berg, outgoing YVR CEO.
"In an ever-competitive landscape, this award represents the hard work of airport staff and volunteers, our airline, retail and business partners and their commitment to continuously improve YVR's facilities and customer experience."
