BIV announces 2021 Influential Women in Business Award winners

Six outstanding women will be celebrated at a virtual awards luncheon on March 8

BIV is pleased to announce the recipients of this year's Influential Women in Business Awards.

The six honourees for 2021 are all recognized leaders in their respective fields, and contribute their time and expertise to the broader B.C. business community as board members, advisors, donors and mentors. They will be celebrated at a virtual awards luncheon on March 8. Visit here to register for this event.

In alphabetical order, this year's award recipients are:

Carol Liao is an associate professor and the director of the Centre for Business Law at the University of British Columbia's Peter A. Allard School of Law. As a co-leader of the Canada Climate Law
Initiative, Liao is working to shift the future of corporate governance towards a new era of sustainable business and decarbonization.

Erinn Pinkerton is the first female president and CEO of BC Transit. Under her leadership, BC Transit's marketing and planning initiatives have been recognized with industry awards. Pinkerton is leading BC Transit's fleet toward a sustainable, zero-emissions future. 

Juggy Sihota is the vice-president of consumer health at Telus, where she oversees the national strategy, execution and operation of the company's consumer health business. She currently serves as a vice-chair of the Vancouver General Hospital and University of British Columbia Hospital Foundation, director of the Vancouver Airport Authority and director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

Lotte Davis is the co-founder of AG Hair, a $30 million business that manufactures four million bottles of professional haircare products a year. Davis is also the founder and CEO of One Girl Can, a Vancouver-based charity that strives to achieve gender equality through education for girls living in extreme poverty in Africa.

Valerie Mann is a senior partner at Lawson Lundell LLP, where she became the first woman elected to serve as managing partner in the firm's 130-year history. She also founded and currently chairs Lawson Lundell's technology group. Mann has been inducted into the Women's Executive Network's Top 100 Hall of Fame.

And finally, the recipient of this year's Lifetime Achievement Award is Joy MacPhail, chair of the Insurance Corp. of British Columbia, and an owner of OUTtv, the world's longest airing LGBTQ+ television network. For 14 years, MacPhail represented the riding of Vancouver-Hastings as a member of B.C.'s legislative assembly, throughout which time she served as minister of finance, minister of health, deputy premier and leader of the opposition.
