Disney Cruises set to return to Vancouver in 2013

Disney Cruise Lines announced this morning its welcome return to Vancouver.

Disney Cruise Lines announced this morning its welcome return to Vancouver.

The company announced its 2013 itineraries, included among them, 15 seven-night cruises departing from Vancouver and bound for Alaska starting May 27.

The inaugural season of Disney’s Alaskan vacations in 2011 saw ships departing from Vancouver. But last April, Disney announced it had decided to move most of its Alaska-bound cruises from Vancouver to Seattle for the 2012 season.

At that time tourism officials in Vancouver estimated that each Disney cruise was worth about $2 million to the Vancouver economy.

There is no word yet on why the decision was made to return to Vancouver’s port.
