Shipments of manufactured goods in B.C. fell 1.4% in February compared with January, according to Statistics Canada.
B.C. manufacturers shipped $3.42 billion worth of goods, down from $3.47 billion in January. The decline was attributed primarily to drops in the forest industry from continued weakness in the U.S. market.
Overall, 12 of 21 B.C. industries reported declines in shipping. Only primary metals and non-metallic minerals posted significant increases due to the ongoing mining sector boom.
