GVIC Communications Corp. (TSX:GCT) – which owns Business in Vancouver – announced Thursday it had acquired a 50% interest in InfoMine Inc., an online provider of rich information to the global mining industry.
Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Vancouver, InfoMine employs 94 people in seven key mining nations: Canada, the U.S.A., Mexico, Brazil, Peru, South Africa and Australia.
InfoMine delivers its services through an online job board, courses, various databases and a mining news site, among others.
According to GVIC (a Glacier Media Group subsidiary), the investment in InfoMine will enhance the company’s presence in the mining sector, which represents a significant strategic opportunity, as Canada is one of three global hubs for mining financing, technology, education and overall activity.
Through the Northern Miner group (the Northern Miner, Mining Markets, Diamonds in Canada, Canadian and American Mines Handbook), GVIC already has a strong mining information brand.
InfoMine substantially expands that presence in terms of expertise, product offering, digital footprint, and global reach.
Jonathon Kennedy, president and CEO of GVIC, said, “We are delighted to partner with InfoMine. The investment in InfoMine continues GVIC's goal of building our business information operations with particular focus on digital and rich information opportunities.”
