Versawave Technologies, a Vancouver company that developed technology that speeds up the transmission of information over fibre optics has been acquired by Ottawa-based optical technology maker Optelian.
“Our acquisition of Versawave is very much a part of our core strategy of being as vertically integrated as possible to provide our customers with cost-effective solutions and short lead times,” Optelian CEO David Weymouth said in a news release.
The details of the acquisition were not disclosed and a spokesperson from Versawave could not be reached for comment by press time.
Versawave makes components used for increasing high-speed data transmission on fibre-optic networks. It was created as a division of JGKB Photonics Inc.
Optelian has a corporate and technical support office in Marietta, Georgia. Its product development and manufacturing facilities are in Ottawa.
