Thomas Allan Palmer and Amrit Bains have joined Patrick Cotter Architect Inc. as project architect and architectural technologist, respectively. Palmer was previously with Oberto Oberti Architects. Bains was previously with Cannon Design.

Shivauna Brown, Shaun Poole and Cheryl Muir have joined Hill & Knowlton as vice-president, marketing and business development for Western Canada; account director; and senior consultant in the company’s integrated public affairs and communications practice, respectively. Brown previously held marketing positions with Tourism Whistler and Tourism Vancouver. Poole was previously manager, operations communications, for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic Games and information officer for the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corp. and the Vancouver 2010 Bid Corp. Muir was previously director, public affairs and communications, for Canada’s National Brewers.

Antonio Niro and Dave Curtis have joined TASK Construction as vice-president of business development and business development manager, respectively. Niro was previously executive program manager and partner at Antonio Niro Consultants Inc. Curtis previously worked in business development for the United Way of the Lower Mainland, MHPM Project Managers Inc. and Stantec Consulting Ltd. He was also president and general manager of the Amarillo Rattlers in the Western Professional Hockey League.

Stephen Grundy has been appointed vice-president, academic, and provost of Royal Roads University. He was previously associate vice-president, program development; chief information officer; registrar; and dean of the school of environment and sustainability.

Andrea Seale has joined the David Suzuki Foundation as director of development. She was previously principal consultant with Blueprint Fundraising and Communications.

Craig Reaume has been appointed general manager at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport. He was previously hotel manager at Toronto’s Fairmont Royal York.

Judy Adams has joined SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts as general manager of Cascadia Hotel & Suites. She was previously general manager at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport and managing director of ETHOS.

Esther McGregor has been promoted to associate partner at Pinton Forrest & Madden. She was previously a senior consultant.

John Kim and Chris Bystrom have been promoted to partners at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP where they were previously associates.

Phil Gibbons and Sebastian Espinosa have joined DTZ Barnicke Vancouver as sales agent and research and broker’s assistant, respectively. Gibbons was previously an agent at Avison Young and Espinosa recently completed the BCIT real estate diploma program.

James Campbell has been appointed vice-president, new business, for Lucara Diamond Corp. He was previously managing director of African Diamonds PLC and a general manager with De Beers.

Denis Potvin has been appointed to the board of Touchdown Resources Inc. He is currently a hockey analyst for Rogers/Sportsnet and sits on the board of Eloro Resources Ltd. He was previously financial adviser for Raymond James & Associates, financial adviser and sales co-ordinator for First Capital Advisors, commercial real estate broker for Cushman Wakefield and defenceman for the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders.

Ross McElroy has been appointed to the board of Papuan Precious Metals Corp. He is president and COO of Fission Energy Corp.

Brent McFarlane has been appointed vice-president, operations, for SilverCrest Mines Inc. He was previously construction manager for Kappes, Cassiday & Associates and country manager for Minefinders Corp.

Tom Yip has been appointed to the board of Pretium Resources Inc. He is currently vice-president, finance, and CFO of Silver Standard Resources Inc. Yip was previously CFO for Asarco LLC and vice-president, finance, and CFO with Echo Bay Mines Ltd.

Bruce Aunger has joined the board of Copper Mountain Mining Corp. He is CFO and executive vice-president of Madison Venture Corp. and is secretary of Glacier Media Inc. and GVIC Communications Corp. He was previously a partner at Arthur Andersen.

Alex Knox has been appointed to the board of Artha Resources Corp. He was previously a mineral exploration geologist with Unocal Canada Ltd.

Darin Labrenz has been appointed president, CEO and director of Laurentian Goldfields Ltd. He was previously vice-president, business development, for Terrane Metals Corp. and chief geologist with Placer Dome Inc.

Gordon Chunnett has joined the board of Platinum Group Metals. He was previously head of exploration for Anglo Platinum.

Elaine Sanders has been appointed vice-president and CFO of NovaGold Resources Inc. She was previously the company’s interim CFO, corporate secretary, vice-president of finance and controller. Sanders was also controller at SpectrumGold Inc. and CFO for Alexco Resource Corp.

Paul Klipfel, Ross McDonald, Sue Chipperfield, Gordon Neal and Jeffrey Pontius have been appointed president, CFO, corporate secretary and board members, respectively, of Abzu Gold Ltd. Klipfel was previously president of Mineral Resource Services Inc. Chipperfield was previously executive assistant to the president at West Timmins Mining Inc. Neal is currently vice-president corporate development, at MAG Silver Corp. Pontius is CEO of International Tower Hill Mines.

George Byers has been appointed vice-president of government and community relations at Rare Element Resources Ltd. He was previously vice-president of the coalmining unit of the Public Service Company of New Mexico and vice-president of public affairs and communications for Santa Fe Pacific Gold.
