Optimed Software Corp., the electronic medical records (EMR) division of Kelowna-based QHR Technologies Inc., is partnering with Telus Health Solutions to bring health record management to two million Saskatchewan and Manitoba residents.

The partnership will connect Optimed’s EMR software, AccuroEMR, to Telus’ e-health consumer platform, which allows Canadians to manage their health information.

“At Optimed, we have chosen partners who can help us offer the best possible solutions and service,” Optimed president Al Hildebrandt said in a press release.

“Along with providing patients the tools to master their own health, Telus health space allows physicians to share with patients a consolidated view of their overall condition. Optimed has over 4,000 physician clients in Canada and with this partnership will be able to provide the next generation consumer driven tools to our physicians and their patients.”

Consumer pilots projects will initially target Saskatchewan and Manitoba, where Optimed has more than 1,800 physician clients.

In April, QHR announced the acquisition of the Canadian branch of EMIS Inc., the U.K.’s largest vendor of EMR technology. (See: “Kelowna medical records company growing” – BIV Business Today, April 26.)

Calls to QHR were not returned by press deadline.
