Take Five Café re-brands, expands

Take Five Café, a Vancouver-based European-style coffeehouse, has undertaken a rebranding initiative at its eight Metro Vancouver locations and will open a ninth outlet in New Westminster at the end of September.

The first café opened on Granville Street in 2003. Owned by brothers Steve and Dean Punzo, Take Five was born from the family’s original business, Caffé de Medici restaurant, on Robson Street.

The brothers wanted to continue the culinary tradition instilled in them by their father, the restaurant’s founder.

“All our Italian-inspired foods, including pastas, panini and desserts, are made fresh from our central kitchen and bakery in Vancouver and delivered daily to each store,” said Steve Punzo. “We took the authentic tiramisu…that was popular at Caffé dé Medici and made it easy for everyone to enjoy with a fresh coffee.”

Steve Punzo told Business in Vancouver the re-branding includes revamping the café’s logo and colour scheme, as well as changing the atmosphere in each store, right down to the dishware. However, the coffee and food will remain the same.

“This investment means a lot to us, it just helps us refocus ourselves. I tend to look at the business and am always looking to make improvements within all aspects of it.”
