Vancouver's mobile GPS provider Rx Networks Inc. has received $3.3 million from the B.C. Discovery Fund and Telus Corp. (TSX:T; NYSE:TA) to develop its GPS technology for mobile devices and expand its sales and marketing.
Rx Networks' proprietary GPS locator network can be used by various wireless mobile devices. The company continues to work with NASA's jet propulsion labs to strengthen the network's reliability and expand its global coverage.
Its GPStream service is being used by Qualcomm, Nokia Networks, NEC and Hewlett Packard.
As a result of the funding, BCDF investment manager Charles Cook and Telus' vice-president of network services Chris Langdon have joined Rx's board of directors.
