A poll commissioned by Telus Corp. (TSX:T; NYSE:TU) has found that 89% of Canadian employees think that offering a flexible work program makes a company more attractive.
The Harris/Decima poll, which was completed by 1,013 employed Canadians in March, also revealed that flexible work is considered the second most important factor, after money, when Canadians are looking for a new job.
Sixty-seven per cent of Canadians surveyed noted they would be more loyal to companies that provided them with the option of flexible work; 87% of employees who have worked remotely said they are just as productive, if not more, when working out of the office.
However, only 46% of survey participants work at a company that offers such a program.
Telus released the poll results Tuesday during a virtual press conference during which reps from Telus, the Ivey School of Business and a handful of other business extolled the benefits of working from home.
As a telecom service provider and one of B.C.’s largest employers, Telus has been a major proponent of work-from-home programs.
In 2009, more than half of the Telus’ 18,000 employees were remote-work enabled.
Telus is using its work-from-home program to help it reduce its real estate footprint and utilities consumption by costs 40% each by 2015.
