First-class passengers travelling from Vancouver to Winnipeg on Via Rail passenger trains will now have free wireless Internet access at major terminal stops.
Via Rail has installed wireless Internet hubs at its stations in Vancouver, Jasper, Edmonton and Winnipeg. The service will be free for first-class passengers travelling on its Vancouver-to-Toronto route.
Passengers can also pay for WiFi access at most major stations, on board trains and in first-class lounges along the Windsor-to-Quebec City corridor.
Passengers with laptops or WiFi-enabled handheld devices will automatically be connected when they turn on their devices. Internet service is being provided by local ISPs.
Via Rail employs more than 700 employees in Western Canada and serves more than 100 communities.
