Victoria-headquartered Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX:VCM) has opened an 8,000-square-foot facility in Mangalore, India.
The office will initially be home to about 10 software developers and increase to 50 staff in the next few months.
The Indian team will complement Vecima's main software development engineers in Saskatoon and expand the company's staff globally to more than 700 people. The company employees 670, most of whom are based in Saskatoon.
Vecima selected Mangalore for its operations in India because of the city's large base of technology-focused educational institutions. The company expanded into the Asia Pacific region following the opening of its regional headquarters in Australia in 2005.
