After 16 years of building a solid reputation in B.C.’s construction industry, Jacob Bros Construction, a family-owned company led by two brothers, has recently been acquired by major player Bird Construction.

Established in 2008, Jacob Bros began as a small firm specializing in civil and buildings projects. Through hard work, determination and keen understanding of the local market, the brothers expanded the business to cover major infrastructure projects.

They grew the company sustainably while maintaining a personal touch with clients – a key factor that set them apart from larger competitors. This approach led to a series of high-profile contracts that eventually caught the attention of national firm Bird, eager to expand its regional presence. The acquisition allows Jacob Bros access to greater resources and larger-scale projects while still honoring the brothers’ legacy of excellence in construction.

In a joint statement, the brothers expressed pride in their achievements and optimism about the future. They believe the sale will offer employees new opportunities and provide loyal clients with an expanded range of services. “This is the beginning of a promising new chapter under the umbrella of one of Canada’s most respected construction companies,” says Scott Jacob, president and CEO. Jacob Bros will maintain its core identity and business operations, continuing to function as a stand-alone entity.

And there’s a lot of business ahead. With key involvement in three of B.C.'s largest capital health care projects, along with contracts secured with Vancouver Airport Authority, Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, and Metro Vancouver for delivery of critical infrastructure, Jacob Bros is at the forefront of projects that are essential to the growth and resilience of B.C.'s economy.

Their portfolio includes key transportation networks, sewers and other crucial facilities that ensure the smooth functioning of society. Current flagship projects include joint venture, multi-year major contracts for improvements along 23 kilometers on Highway 1 from 216th Street to Mt. Lehman Road.

In addition to major transportation and infrastructure projects, the company is also involved in building major flight simulator facilities for Air Canada, the newest phase of the McArthur Glen Designer Mall, municipal fire halls, community halls and rollercoasters, earning a reputation for successful delivery of complex projects.

What sets Jacob Bros apart is their ability to handle the complexities of projects of all scales. The company has maintained an innovative approach to construction that allows them to overcome challenges and deliver projects that stand the test of time. Their work on critical infrastructure projects is essential for improving quality of life, driving economic progress, and ensuring the resilience of BC’s economy.

By joining the Bird family, Jacob Bros is laying the groundwork for future growth. It’s a compelling model for sustainable growth - one built on trust, collaboration, and practical problem-solving. And as the demand for reliable and efficient infrastructure in BC continues to rise, Jacob Bros is poised to remain a leader in the field, helping to build the foundation for tomorrow’s world.
