Imagine walking into a space where every detail, from the sliding door partitions to the custom cabinetry, feels like it was designed just for you.

The light hits polished surfaces perfectly, and the layout blends function with elegance, making it both practical and beautiful.

This is the experience Marat Ideatulin and his team at Komandor Vancouver Closets and Doors Inc. bring to life. With expertise that spans continents and a tradition of craftsmanship refined over 30 years, they don’t just transform interiors — they create spaces that sing, effortlessly combining European flair with modern North American style.

And perhaps the best part?

“We're a local company,” Ideatulin says, “We're deeply connected to the community, carry in-stock items, and maintain strong relationships with our suppliers. This allows us to offer a wide range of options. Our systematic approach is what sets us apart from our local competitors. Plus, with our well-appointed showroom, you can see and feel the products, ask questions, understand the process, and make a truly informed decision.”

For those looking for the modern “hotelization” of an office or commercial space, Ideatulin’s team can help dramatically alter the look and feel of today’s workplace.

"Hotelization" describes the growing trend of transforming offices or commercial spaces to resemble upscale hotels, blending modern design with comfort, functionality, and style. The goal is to create a welcoming, luxurious atmosphere by incorporating features like open layouts, chic lounges, and contemporary furniture—much like the ambiance you'd find in a boutique hotel.

If the space is too noisy, Komandor’s partition walls can dramatically change that by offering sound-rated partition systems. Or perhaps the office itself is a little gloomy – Komandor’s new kitchenettes or office furniture  can turn that frown upside down. A custom reception desk will be the right thing to make a great impression on the walk-in client. (smth like that)

“While we’re not in the business of finding the right employee fit, we can certainly help create an aesthetically and functionally appealing space where employees can stay focused and productive,” Ideatulin says.

Komandor’s expertise spans multiple sectors, and they recently completed three large-scale projects for municipalities across Metro Vancouver.

Safety preparedness for the 21st century

The Maplewood Fire and Rescue Centre retrofit in the District of North Vancouver was Komandor’s first major infrastructure project for a municipal client.

Ideatulin’s team played a crucial role in managing supply chain challenges associated with sourcing products from another continent. The project required handling a wide range of specified material types, meticulous attention to detail during the drawing approval process and close coordination with the construction schedule to meet deadlines.

The end result will be a new 45,000-square foot facility that will enhance fire protective and emergency services for the District and improve response times.

“We were very flexible with the installation schedule, and we kept our promises,” Ideatulin says. “Despite the complicated process, the end client is very satisfied.”

Sonic bliss for Coquitlam’s seniors

Coquitlam’s Dogwood Pavilion for seniors required an acoustic wall to be removed and replaced under very tight timelines and complex work specs.

“We can be the quickest in the industry with our production turnaround. We underpromise and overdeliver,” Ideatulin says. “We beat our original timeline and the client was ecstatic about it.”

On time, on budget

As Komandor’s first successful bid on a public tender, the company was tasked with removing and replacing a dated acoustic wall and providing finish and design options at the South Delta Recreation Centre.

“The turnaround time that we quoted was accurate and the client was very happy with how the project went,” Ideatulin says.

Komandor’s range of services is complemented by its work in the residential sector, including custom millwork, kitchens, closets, media units, sliding doors, and more.

“There is a lot of satisfaction and pride in making sure the end client is happy,” Ideatulin says. “The mission is accomplished by who we are, what we offer and the business ethics we use.”
