The meaning of the word “office” has changed drastically in the last year. The office became an extension of the home or a place people visited much less frequently than before.
After a year of working remotely and adapting to new ways of working, many wonder what the future of the workplace will look like now that much time has passed and unique preferences have emerged. As vaccines roll out worldwide and businesses prepare to return staff to the office, it’s an important discussion to have. Industry leaders from around the world will come together to talk about it in the upcoming virtual event, Tenant Talks.
Tenant Talks is a global non-profit, online speaker series presented by Vancouver-based Aura, whose focus is to contribute to the development of the future office through discussions on improving office settings and office design in a way that better suits how organizations function.
“We are bringing people together, virtually, from all around the globe to have crucial discussions in relation to employee happiness, satisfaction and productivity,” says Dan Boram, Aura CEO.
“Our panellists and attendees are executives who will be talking about their experience and will share their insightful ideas,”
“Tenant Talks events feature speakers who can bring true value to the table and share their insights with those attending,” Boram says. “Our speakers have included representatives from Borden Ladner Gervais, Dentons, Ernst & Young, KPMG, MNP LLP, Viser, and PwC Canada.
“Ironically, our first live Tenant Talks event in 2019 discussed the future of remote work, and there was a friendly debate on if it’s a productive way of working or not,” Boram says.
“Now, that conversation continues as we have had no choice but to adapt to a remote way of working.”
Part of that discussion includes knowing whether a company should hold onto its current square footage or think about reducing and moving more solidly towards a hybrid, remote/work model.
The next Tenant Talks event is scheduled online for April 21. Aside from acting as a forum for discussion, Tenant Talks also serves as a charity fundraiser collecting donations through ticket sales to benefit community initiatives in need of support.
“We are working towards a goal of raising $1 million for charities supporting those in need through Tenant Talks events within the next five years,” Boram says.
“We are typically finding that those attending Tenant Talks are medium to large-sized companies who find value in discussing new approaches with their peers,” Boram adds.
“And if all they did was take away a single idea or tactic, it would have been well worthwhile if it helped them overcome at least one challenge.”
With a global set of panellists and an audience to match, the setting will be ripe to deliver just that.
“Having expanded globally in recent months, we are now getting insight and ideas from organizations in other countries on how they are handling common problems faced by organizations worldwide. Discussions have been very interesting, often leading to creative solutions being offered on the spot,””
